Issues of Importance
SOCC exists to advocate for issues of importance to communities of color at Stanford University. By amplifying our collective voices, we seek to support and empower students to create positive change for our communities at the university. Key issues recognized by SOCC in all election cycles include:
Each year SOCC endorses up to one ASSU Executive slate and up to fifteen ASSU Undergraduate Senate Candidates. We select candidates who are supportive of SOCC’s member communities and are willing to learn more about the specific issues facing our communities on campus. It’s important to have responsive and supportive ASSU senators, and to accomplish that, we must support them during ASSU elections.
- Fostering Faculty and Graduate Student Diversity
- Identifying Acts of Intolerance on Campus
- Supporting Ethnic Community Centers, their Staff and Academic Programs, and
- The Reduction of VSO Costs for all student organizations.
